Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

It is our great pleasure and honor to announce this Special Issue on “Inflammation and Cardiovascular Disease”.

Despite improvements in treatment, cardiovascular disease (CVD) remains the leading cause of death worldwide. This Special Issue will focus on the latest advances in understanding the mechanisms, pathways and mediators that link inflammation to CVD with an emphasis on topics related to molecular diagnosis, biomarkers and pharmacologic therapy of CVD. It is well-established that physiological and pathophysiological processes involved in CVD are affected by systemic oxidative stress and sustained low-grade inflammation. Inflammation affects multiple cell types involved in CVD including macrophages, endothelium and smooth muscle. However, studies targeting inflammation as a means of reducing residual CVD risk have been disappointing and this has left a knowledge gap in need of resolution. A key aim of this issue will be to examine molecular mechanisms that are involved in the crosstalk between inflammation and CVD.

We welcome original clinical or pre-clinical research papers and basic research papers. Reviews that identify problems or challenges, present a dedicated overview or provide solutions or prospects will also be considered.

We look forward to receiving your original research or review articles.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted via our online editorial system at https://imr.propub.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to start your submission. Manuscripts can be submitted now or up until the deadline. All papers will go through peer-review process. Accepted papers will be published in the journal (as soon as accepted) and meanwhile listed together on the special issue website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts will be thoroughly refereed through a double-blind peer-review process. Please visit the Instruction for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. There is an Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal. For details about the APC please see here. Submitted manuscripts should be well formatted in good English.
