Overview
In the face of increasingly serious challenges to academic integrity—particularly in today’s complex research environment, where the pressure to produce results continues to mount—the risks of academic misconduct are rising. To address these challenges, IMR Press has dedicated significant effort to refining and strengthening journal policies, enhancing peer review processes, developing integrity tools, and actively engaging with international initiatives such as the STM Integrity Hub. Additionally, we have collaborated with Dr. Behrooz Astaneh, Director of Education and Ethical Integrity, to carefully develop this course. The goal is to help scholars systematically master research ethics and publishing standards, prevent integrity issues at an early stage of their academic careers, and thereby promote integrity and sustainable development within the academic community.
Since 2021, Dr. Behrooz Astaneh has served as Ethics Manager at IMR Press, dedicating his efforts to research integrity. In April 2025, he officially assumed the role of Director of Education and Ethical Integrity. With extensive practical experience and an international perspective, he has developed this course to incorporate authentic case studies and implementable strategies. It systematically explores the professional norms and responsibilities of researchers, authors, reviewers, and editors, while providing comprehensive guidance on publishing and ethical standards in research design, manuscript preparation, and submission.
The aim of this course is to help:
- Attain a comprehensive understanding of academic integrity and publication ethics.
- Develop practical competencies for addressing academic disputes and mitigating the risks of misconduct.
- Enhance professional standards in the roles of author, reviewer, and editor.
Welcome to this course to strengthen your ethical commitment and advance your professional development as a member of the scholarly community.
