Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
We will include papers and reviews that
1. follow this concept:
The use of signal transduction pathways and gene expression data as a basis for modeling diseases and as platforms to screen leads for drugs.
2. be in line with the following background:
Many diseases still require unique basic knowledge in order to develop personalized drugs with less side effects. In this issue, we plan to publish manuscripts that will address these issues.
Disease-related metabolome, proteome and transcriptome are advantageous and are termed: disease-related "metabolome/proteome/transcriptome signature".
3. Include models such as:
1) Brain diseases; and the role of the blood-Brain-Barrier
2) Aging related novel data on signal-transduction and metabolic pathways
3) Cancer diseases and related proteomic data targeting novel drugs
4) Disease models (such as epilepsy, cancer) that enable combined treatment using electrical fields and drugs
5) Harnessing data on signaling pathways and transcriptome for modeling monogenic genetic diseases as platforms to advance drug discovery
6) Genome editing (Crispr) based on signal transduction and gene expression knowledge for human disease therapies
7) Understanding how the knowledge on Signal Transduction and Gene Expression can be harnessed for treating brain diseases such as Alzheimer's Disease and Brain injuries and other pathologies.
8) Signal Transduction, Gene Expression, Proteome and Metabolome: methodologies of data collection and data analysis related to human diseases
9) Additional human diseases
4. Suggest methodologies for validation of the specificity of potential drugs.
e.g. based on metabolome/proteome/transcriptome signature.
