Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Cardioprotection includes all pharmacological and non-pharmacological approaches that contribute to the preservation of the cardiac function by limiting or preventing myocardial injury. Perioperative cardioprotection in patients undergoing elective non-cardiac and cardiac surgery remains a debated topic. Since rate of major cardiovascular events in worldwide surgical population is an unsolved issue, its prevention in major surgery is still attracting clinicians and researchers. Indeed, decision-support tools lack best evidence to enable tailored interventions in surgical patients without or with minimal to high cardiovascular risk factors. These evidence-based gaps foster insights and innovation in perioperative cardioprotection using multimodal and interdisciplinary approaches from bench to bedside. The Special Issue "Translational Perioperative Cardioprotection" will collect high-quality original research papers and comprehensive reviews on recent advances in cardioprotection in surgical patients. The topic of interests include but are not limited to:
- Myocardial disease
- Arrhythmias
- Animal models
- Cardiovascular Imaging
- Biomarkers
- Epigenetics
- Genetics
- Environmental risk factors
- Clinical decision making and real world outcomes

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted via our online editorial system at https://imr.propub.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to start your submission. Manuscripts can be submitted now or up until the deadline. All papers will go through peer-review process. Accepted papers will be published in the journal (as soon as accepted) and meanwhile listed together on the special issue website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts will be thoroughly refereed through a double-blind peer-review process. Please visit the Instruction for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. There is an Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal. For details about the APC please see here. Submitted manuscripts should be well formatted in good English.
