Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Sphingolipids are ubiquitous components of cell membranes. They have also recently emerged as bioactive molecules that participate in the control of cell fate. Acting as intra- and extra-cellular signaling molecules, sphingolipids are involved in signal transduction for the physiological regulation of different processes including cell proliferation, survival, death, differentiation, migration and invasiveness. Dysregulation of sphingolipid metabolism and signaling is associated with different pathologies and contributes to the pathogenesis of these diseases. Sphingolipids have been shown to have crucial roles in various pathologies including cancer, inflammation, diabetes, neurodegenerative disorders and autoimmune diseases. Control of the sphingolipid level is therefore critical, either through the regulation of specific enzymes involved in their metabolism, or through the regulation of specific transporters or receptors involved in sphingolipid transport within or outside the cell. The exact molecular mechanisms by which sphingolipids mediate their cellular effects are not fully understood. Further research on their metabolic regulation and signaling should lead to advances in our understanding of the role of sphingolipids in different physiopathological conditions.

The aim of the Special Issue “Advances in Sphingolipids” is to highlight the functions of sphingolipids in diverse physiopathological conditions. We welcome your contributions in the form of original research and review articles on all aspects of sphingolipids, including their role in various physiological and pathophysiological processes.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted via our online editorial system at https://imr.propub.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to start your submission. Manuscripts can be submitted now or up until the deadline. All papers will go through peer-review process. Accepted papers will be published in the journal (as soon as accepted) and meanwhile listed together on the special issue website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts will be thoroughly refereed through a double-blind peer-review process. Please visit the Instruction for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. There is an Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal. For details about the APC please see here. Submitted manuscripts should be well formatted in good English.
