Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

We are pleased to announce a special issue dedicated to the BON-2025 – Conference on advances in brain and ocular nutrition.

This special issue will highlight the latest research and prevention and treatment strategies related to brain and ocular nutrition, presented at the BON-2025 Conference, by publishing open access proceedings of the talks and posters presented at the meeting.

Submissions are encouraged from all participants/contributors of the meeting and may include original research articles, reviews, systematic reviews, short communications, editorials, opinion papers, as well as letters to the editor. This special issue will bring together contributions from basic science and mechanistic studies, epidemiology, translational studies, and clinical research aimed at understanding and improving outcomes in brain and ocular health related to dietary aspects.

While the special issue is based on BON 2025, submissions from all BON members on this topic are also welcome. The scope of the special issue includes (but is not limited to):

  • Nutrition and neurodegenerative diseases
  • (Micro)nutrients and phytochemicals - importance for brain and vision
  • Nutritional strategies for prevention and adjuvant therapies
  • Dietary patterns for a healthy brain and vision
  • Mechanistic investigations into brain and eye health
  • Translational and clinical studies
  • Gut-brain axis – microbiota
  • Food processing techniques including encapsulation
  • New technologies in brain and eye health diagnosis

The APC for this Special Issue is 2200 USD, but this does not apply to BON members (BON will cover all charges). If you are a BON member, please contact the Special Issue Editors to inquire about available slots.
