Overview
Alpha Psychiatry (AP) is an international, open-access, peer-reviewed journal dedicated to publishing research of scientific and clinical value in psychiatry, advancing understanding of the diagnosis, treatment, prevention, and underlying pathological mechanisms of mental disorders. AP is hosted by The Affiliated Brain Hospital of Guangzhou Medical University and published by IMR Press. AP covers a broad range of topics in psychiatry and publishes a variety of article types, including Original Articles, Reviews, Editorials, Expert Opinions, Systematic Reviews, Study Protocols, Short Communications, Letters to the Editor, and Debates.

Benefits of Open Access Publishing
The advent of online publication has greatly improved access to scientific content on a global scale. Therefore, starting from January 1, 2025, all publications of AP will be freely available online immediately after publication, without the need for a paid subscription. This aims to allow more scholars to benefit from research results, promote innovation, and bring new discoveries.
Under the open-access model of AP, the journal primarily covers publication costs through the use of Article Processing Charge. These costs include managing the editorial process, producing published versions, developing online features, and maintaining the quality of journal publications.

2025 Alpha Psychiatry (Volume 26, Issue 1) , published by IMR, has changed its Open Access publication model from the CC BY-NC license to the Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY) license. All papers published from Volume 1 to Volume 25 (2000–2024) are copyrighted by IMR Press, and available under a CC BY-NC license. Articles published beginning from Volume 26 Issue 1 (2025) are under the terms and conditions of the CC BY license.
