Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Recent years have seen major developments in the field of cardiac pacing and implantable cardioverter defibrillators (ICDs). Technical advances include leadless pacemakers and conduction system pacing, as well as subcutaneous and extravascular ICDs. In addition to these technical advances, there is new information about the indications and optimal use of these complicated devices. Ageing populations have led to an increase in the number of implantations, but also to an increased incidence of long-term complications such as infection and technical failures.
The special issue "New Insights into Cardiac Implantable Electronic Devices—Volume 2" is aimed at contributing to these recent developments. We therefore encourage researchers to submit their studies on any aspect of cardiac pacing or ICDs. Manuscripts that deal with technical advances that are of interest to device specialists may be contributed as well as reports on the optimal programming of cardiac devices. Manuscripts dealing with indications for pacing or ICDs, as well as value-based health care, are of particular interest to general cardiologists and we encourage the submission of such reports.
