Thermography or infrared (IR) imaging is dependent on an accurate analysis of skin surface and tissue temperatures. This diagnostic procedure allows practitioners to identify the locations of abnormal chemical and blood vessel activity such as angiogenesis, stenosis, and aneurysms in the body. It is a non-invasive approach which applies the technology of the infrared camera and state-of-the-art software. Current available high-resolution digital infrared imaging technology benefits greatly from enhanced image production, standardized image interpretation protocols, computerized comparison and storage, and sophisticated image enhancement (including active dynamic thermorgaphy) and analysis.Thermography or infrared (IR) imaging is dependent on an accurate analysis of skin surface and tissue temperatures. We are interested here to provide latest update on the application of infrared imaging in cardiovascular diseases.
This special issue will include color images and tables. Infrared imaging is a non-invasive, contactless, safe technique and easy approach, which will benefit in all medical fields. Nowadays with new generation and development of sensor technology, image processing algorithms, and sophisticated computers, has greatly advanced the field of infrared imaging. This technique has many applications in biomedical sciences such as cardiovascular diseases. For better and healthier society we need to look at a safe and non-invasive modality with early detection potential as an adjunctive method to detect health problem.
Manuscripts submitted to this Special Issue will be subjected to more stringent selection criteria to ensure the privileged position of accepted contributions. Those that fail to pass this selection will be considered for publication in RCM as regular contributions.
