Disruption of the Fibroinflammatory Loop: A Therapeutic Strategy for Cardiac Fibrosis in Non-Ischemic Cardiomyopathy—Graphical Abstract

Hongyu Qiu and Inna P. Gladysheva from the University of Arizona recently published an article entitled “Disruption of the Fibroinflammatory Loop: A Therapeutic Strategy for Cardiac Fibrosis in Non-Ischemic Cardiomyopathy” in Reviews in Cardiovascular Medicine (RCM), Volume 27, Issue 3  (https://www.imrpress.com/journal/RCM/27/3/10.31083/RCM48589).

The graphical abstract shows a simplified schematic illustrating fibroinflammatory remodeling in non-ischemic cardiomyopathy as a self-reinforcing cycle that promotes cardiac interstitial fibrosis.

This study advances the view of cardiac fibrosis as a dynamic, self-perpetuating fibroinflammatory cycle driven by interactions between fibrotic and inflammatory pathways. It highlights emerging translational strategies to disrupt mechanical feedback loops that sustain chronic fibroinflammatory remodeling, with a focus on non-ischemic cardiomyopathy and future therapeutic directions.
