Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Emotion regulation (ER) refers to a set of processes aimed at modulating one's emotional reaction in order to respond to stressful events in a socially acceptable but sufficiently flexible manner to ensure healthy emotional functioning. Recently ER has become an increasingly popular research topic in the fields of affective neuroscience, experimental and clinical psychology. Despite the growth of this research field, there are still many questions to be answered. This Special Issue aims to represent the current state of the field for theory and research on ER. Special attention will be devoted to emerging topics in ER research such as: (but not limited to): (i) interpersonal influences in ER (Are there specific neural correlates for interpersonal ER?); (ii) spontaneous forms of ER (what do we know about the neural correlates of ER beyond the involvement of executive brain areas?). We welcome empirical contributions including behavioral or neuroscientific, as well as theory, meta-analyses and review papers.
