Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The use of model organisms in research has been crucial for scientific progress. Notably, budding yeast have been used as a workhorse model in many biological fields, including cell biology, genetics, biochemistry, and aging. Most of the metabolic and cellular pathways that occur in humans can be studied in yeast. For over 50 years, budding yeast has been successfully used as an experimental organism in genetic research and for understanding the molecular basis of human disease, aging, and response to environmental stress. Under the broad theme of “Yeast Models in Molecular and Cell Biology”, the goal of this Special Issue is to explore and present the latest advances using yeast as a unicellular model organism. Review articles and original research papers that focus on this topic are sought from expert contributors.
