Dear Colleagues,
MicroRNAs (miRNAs) have significantly advanced our understanding of cardiovascular biology and pathology. MicroRNAs are small non-coding RNA molecules that play a pivotal role in post-transcriptional gene regulation. Emerging evidence has underscored their central role in cardiovascular health, as they are intricately connected to cardiac development, function, and pathological responses. Altered miRNA expression profiles have been implicated in numerous cardiovascular conditions, including diabetes, atherosclerosis, hypertension, heart failure, and myocardial infarction, among others. These small RNA entities may serve as potential biomarkers and provide new targets for therapeutic intervention, thus opening a new chapter in cardiovascular medicine. This special issue, titled “MicroRNAs in Cardiovascular Diseases”, aims to highlight the intricate interplay between miRNAs, their regulatory functions, and their implications in the pathogenesis, diagnosis, and treatment of cardiovascular diseases.
