Dear Colleagues,

Hyperandrogenism, characterized by an excess production of androgens, is a pervasive gynecologic endocrinology condition often associated with many health complications in women, such as polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), tumors, irregular menstrual cycles, and infertility. Although typical, this condition is complex and multifactorial, requiring a comprehensive understanding of effective clinical management.

Although there have been many studies investigating the hormonal, metabolic, and genetic aspects of hyperandrogenism, it remains a difficult condition to diagnose and manage. Additionally, symptoms of hyperandrogenism often appear before a definitive diagnosis can be made, highlighting the importance of reliable and non-invasive diagnostic biomarkers. While current treatment options can be helpful, their effectiveness varies and there is a significant risk of symptoms returning.

In our upcoming special issue on Female Hyperandrogenism, we will accept various articles, original research, short reports, letters, and reviews examining this condition from an interdisciplinary or multidisciplinary standpoint. Areas of interest encompass but are not limited to, diagnostic advancements, management of hormonal imbalances, innovative therapeutic approaches, and psycho-social implications of hyperandrogenism.

Hyperandrogenism within this realm holds potential for clinical benefits; we invite all submissions of manuscripts for peer review. We look forward to contributions that enrich our understanding and management of hyperandrogenism.
