Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

This special issue aims to bring together high-quality research on psychological interventions for emotional disorders — including depression, anxiety, and related conditions — that promote not only symptom reduction but also the long-term stabilization of well-being. We encourage contributions that go beyond immediate treatment effects and explore how improvements are maintained over time. In addition to long-term outcomes, this special issue is particularly interested in studies that reframe the goals of intervention, shifting the focus from solely alleviating symptoms to actively promoting sustainable psychological well-being. This includes exploring therapeutic approaches that foster personal growth, emotional resilience, meaning in life, and enhanced functioning beyond symptom remission. We especially welcome studies on transdiagnostic interventions, which address shared mechanisms underlying emotional disorders and offer scalable, flexible approaches applicable across a range of conditions. Relevant topics include, but are not limited to, longitudinal studies assessing the durability of therapeutic gains, interventions designed to prevent relapse or recurrence, and approaches that integrate the promotion of psychological strengths such as self-compassion, emotion regulation, and positive affectivity. Original Research, Review, and Systematic Review are all welcome. We also invite contributions on innovative intervention formats — such as digital therapies and blended therapies — or third-wave approaches that support long-term well-being and resilience in individuals with emotional disorders. Overall, this special issue seeks to highlight interventions that contribute to lasting change, growth beyond recovery, and improved quality of life and functioning for individuals experiencing emotional disorders.
