Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

This Special Issue ‘Enhancing understanding of fetal alcohol spectrum disorders (FASD) across the globe’ aims to increase our knowledge in research relevant to FASD, mechanistic insights, prevention, and comorbid conditions.

FASD is a condition in which prenatal exposure to alcohol affects a child's brain and physical development. FASD may induce delayed brain development, memory and learning impairment, and slow cognitive processing. Moreover, high levels of in utero alcohol exposure may also increase the risk of autism spectrum disorders (ASD).

We are particularly interested in studies carried out across different countries to understand the basic and translational research on FASD using multidisciplinary methods that include neuroimaging, novel biological and statistical approaches. Authors are invited to submit original research, reviews, as well as short communications that may have a significant impact on a better understanding of FASD from genetics, imaging, to novel therapeutics via the use of translational tools.
