Special Interview with Prof. Hahn Young Kim: JIN Journal Editorial Board

24 April 2025

Professor Hahn Young Kim is currently a professor at Konkuk University Graduate School of Medicine and the director of the Department of Neurology at Konkuk University Hospital. He received his Doctor of Medicine degree from Sungkyunkwan University College of Medicine. As a key member of the editorial board of the Journal of Integrative Neuroscience (JIN), Prof. Kim has devoted decades to the field of neurology. His academic insights have significantly contributed to advancing scholarly exchange in the field and the ongoing development of the JIN journal.

Recently, JIN had the honor of conducting an exclusive interview with Prof. Kim. As a clinical expert in neurology and a member of the journal’s editorial board, Prof. Kim shared his in-depth insights on the frontiers of neurological research, journal development, and submission strategies from both research and academic publishing perspectives.

In the interview, Prof. Kim stated that his research has long focused on topics related to neurology and neurological disorders, and he intends to continue advancing work in this field. He also emphasized the importance of actively attracting high-quality manuscripts to enhance the journal’s academic influence, noting that a strong impact factor and solid academic reputation are key factors in attracting contributions from researchers.

In addition, as a member of the editorial board of JIN, Prof. Kim offered the following advice to authors: manuscripts should emphasize innovation, data quality, and logical coherence in writing—core elements he prioritizes during the review process. More importantly, in the field of neurology, where research data often derive from patient cohorts, authors must ensure scientific rigor and ethical compliance. He also emphasized the need to avoid repetitive studies, instead encouraging a focus on original scientific questions and the clear, precise presentation of data.

We extend our sincere thanks to Professor Hahn Young Kim for participating in this interview. His valuable insights reflect his deep expertise, and we hope that the perspectives shared will offer meaningful guidance for the journal’s development and for scholars in shaping their submission strategies.
