Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Cytokines are produced and secreted by a variety of cells. They are key soluble mediators that form regulatory networks and participate in the regulation of many biological processes. They act by binding to specific cell surface receptors, thereby initiating complex signaling cascades that control cell homeostasis and immune responses. Conversely, deficits in cytokine production or secretion are implicated in several disease states ranging from chronic inflammation, fibrosis or organ failure. Increased understanding of cytokine biology and function is not only improving our knowledge of the pathogenesis of diseases, but is also the basis for the development of novel innovative therapeutic strategies. This special issue will include reviews, research articles, and commentaries on the topic “Cytokines in Health and Disease” focusing on all aspects of cytokine regulation and function in mediating cell and tissue homeostasis and in the initiation and progression of diseases.

The special issue will cover topics including:
- Receptors and signaling pathways of cytokines
- Cytokines in development, cell/tissue homeostasis, and disease
- Regulation of cytokine signaling in immunity
- Synergistic and antagonistic effects of cytokine activities
- Experimental models to study cytokine biology
- Imaging of cytokine activities
- Applicability of cytokines as biomarkers
- Cytokine-targeted therapies

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted via our online editorial system at https://imr.propub.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to start your submission. Manuscripts can be submitted now or up until the deadline. All papers will go through peer-review process. Accepted papers will be published in the journal (as soon as accepted) and meanwhile listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, reviews as well as short communications are preferred. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office to announce on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts will be thoroughly refereed through a double-blind peer-review process. Please visit the Instruction for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) in this open access journal is 2500 USD. Submitted manuscripts should be well formatted in good English.
