Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Immunonutrition is a nutritional approach with the aim of balancing host immune systems to reduce or prevent the inflammatory process. Several nutrients (i.e., anti-oxidant, glutamine, arginine, omega3 fatty acids) have been demonstrated to exert anti-inflammatory effects; in addition, they are capable of promoting some T cell functions and altering cytokine production. Since alterations in the immune system can trigger various pathophysiological disorders, the implementation of tailored nutrition, aimed at improving and strengthening immune system functions, is crucial for each patient regardless of the type of disease process. Immunonutrition is a field with great potential in modern medicine. Surgical and pharmacological treatments could benefit from the synergy of unique and personalized diets, which take into account each subject's health status.

We welcome high-quality papers (original articles, reviews, systematic reviews, meta-analysis, perspectives) aimed at increasing the knowledge of the impact of immunonutrition on inflammatory dysregulated disorders, including autoimmune and cardiovascular diseases, infections, neurodegenerative disorders, and tumors.
