Dear Colleagues,
The clinical management of heart failure has evolved from a singular cardiac intervention approach to a systemic perspective that considers multi-organ interactions. This shift is driven by a deeper understanding of the complex dialogue between the heart and other organs. Whether the patient is in acute cardiogenic shock or chronic heart failure, cardiac dysfunction often leads to dysregulation of multiple organs such as the lungs, kidneys, and liver. These secondary organ injuries further exacerbate the cardiac burden, creating a vicious cycle. For instance, approximately 36% of patients with cardiogenic shock experience single-organ failure, and nearly half develop multiple-organ failure (MOF), significantly increasing in-hospital mortality rates. These pathophysiological processes involve mechanisms such as neurohormonal imbalance, inflammatory activation, and metabolic disorders, thereby necessitating interdisciplinary research to optimize therapeutic strategies.
This special issue, "Organ Interactions in Heart Failure: Physiology, Pathophysiology, and Therapeutics", will compile multidisciplinary research findings to facilitate the translation of mechanistic discoveries into clinical practice. We invite submissions in the following areas, including but not limited to: early diagnosis, risk stratification, organ support, therapeutic optimization, and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Manuscripts should be submitted via our online editorial system at https://imr.propub.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to start your submission. Manuscripts can be submitted now or up until the deadline. All papers will go through peer-review process. Accepted papers will be published in the journal (as soon as accepted) and meanwhile listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, reviews as well as short communications are preferred. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office to announce on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts will be thoroughly refereed through a double-blind peer-review process. Please visit the Instruction for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) in this open access journal is 2500 USD. Submitted manuscripts should be well formatted in good English.
