Dear Colleagues,
Breast cancer is the most frequently diagnosed malignancy and leading cause of cancer-related death among women worldwide. This disease imposes a significant burden on global health, affecting morbidity, mortality, and quality of life. While advancements in early detection, multimodal treatment, and survivorship care have improved outcomes, challenges persist in optimizing personalized, patient-centered approaches across the entire disease continuum. The immuno-inflammatory microenvironment, genetic heterogeneity, and evolving therapeutic strategies further complicate breast cancer management. Additionally, disparities in access to screening, treatment innovations, and long-term follow-up care highlight the need for comprehensive, multidisciplinary solutions.
This Research Topic aims to highlight recent advances and suggest future directions in the holistic management of breast cancer, from screening to survivorship care. We encourage submissions of Original Research, Systematic Review, Review, Conference Report, Short Communication, Case Report, Letter to the Editor/Reply, Commentary, and Opinion articles centered on, but not limited to, the following topics:
1) Innovations in breast cancer screening, including AI-assisted imaging, risk-adapted strategies, and novel biomarkers for early detection.
2) Advances in precision diagnosis, such as liquid biopsy, multi-omics profiling, and radiogenomics.
3) Emerging therapeutic strategies, including targeted therapies, immunotherapy, and minimally invasive surgical techniques.
4) Optimizing multidisciplinary treatment approaches for different breast cancer subtypes (e.g., HR+, HER2+, TNBC).
5) Survivorship and long-term care, focusing on late effects, rehabilitation, psychosocial support, and quality-of-life interventions.
6) Health disparities and global perspectives on breast cancer management, including cost-effectiveness and accessibility of care.
7) Patient-centered outcomes and shared decision-making in breast cancer treatment and follow-up.
8) Integration of digital health technologies (e.g., telemedicine, wearable devices) in breast cancer care.
By compiling cutting-edge research and perspectives, this Research Topic seeks to foster discussions on evidence-based, individualized, and equitable breast cancer management. We welcome contributions that bridge the gaps between research and clinical practice, ultimately improving outcomes for patients across the disease spectrum.
