Dear Colleagues,

Decision analysis is well suited to dealing with emerging topics in health care, especially for men’s health which is often characterized by the need to make decisions in the face of uncertainty, conflicting objectives, limited evidence, and complex trade-offs. The study of health decision modelling is rapidly growing because governments, insurers, healthcare organizations and the pharmaceutical industry recognize the need to estimate the costs, clinical outcomes and benefits of healthcare systems. Indeed, the increasing availability of healthcare information and the growth in computational power are considered to be the major factors allowing rapid progress of the “for medical decision-making” community. Moreover, deployment of computational techniques in healthcare helps physicians to make reliable medical decisions and healthcare practitioners to develop consistent and cost-effective healthcare systems. Healthcare technologies have also enabled the production of very large amounts of biological and physiological data, such as medical images, electroencephalography signals, genomic and protein sequences. Learning from this data will facilitate our understanding of men’s health and disease. Accordingly, computational approaches have recently emerged in both academia and industry as “intelligent” methods in many specific healthcare areas that provide novel insights from medical and biological data. Due to the complex nature of the healthcare sector, such decision-making tools need to be multi-criteria and take into account many different factors, from clinical and technical to socio-economic and organizational. These tools can also support the introduction or implementation of new technologies or protocols by assessing and comparing their use and final results/outcomes with current standards in terms of clinical efficiency, safety, technical performance, cost-effectiveness, and social impact. A wide variety of medical decisions can thus be supported by computational techniques, including screening, diagnosis, prognosis, monitoring, treatment, and management. Computational techniques have proven their value for analyzing and interpreting medical decision-making, such as employing time series analysis to investigate various classical data such as numerical and categorical information. These techniques are removing current limitations in terms of equity and access to the healthcare system. As an example, rural medicine will benefit greatly from bringing together worldwide expertise through a recommender framework and by providing support to healthcare practitioners through a computational-based, medical decision-making system. This special issue is dedicated to addressing current and emerging problems in the theory and practice of Computational Decision-Making Approaches for Men’s Health using advanced infrastructure, algorithms and management. The intention of this issue is to provide a timely opportunity for researchers, experts, engineers and practitioners to publish their latest findings and offer new solutions to healthcare problems. All submissions will be thoroughly reviewed for originality, significance, relevance, and clarity of presentation.

Potential topics include but are not limited to the following:

• Healthcare decision support for treatment and classification

• Medical imaging decision analysis and prediction for Men’s Healthcare

• Analysis and interpretation of healthcare decision-making

• Application of AI and big data in men’s healthcare decision-making systems

• Data processing, evaluation and selection, and planning and design methods for men’s healthcare management applications

• Wearable and Augmentation technologies and their role in men’s healthcare decision-making systems

• Multicriteria decision-making methods to evaluate different aspects of men’s healthcare technologies (clinical efficiency, effectiveness, return on sales, technology safety, etc.)

• Qualitative and quantitative assessment of patients’ satisfaction, clinical efficacy, and technical efficiency of technologies, devices, procedures, and protocols

• Algorithms for the analysis and processing of biomedical data to support decision-making.

• Mathematical models that provide information on the length of hospital stay, optimizing the hospital’s resources, and improving clinical outcomes.

• Decision support system for the internet of medical things

• Decision making in the context of personalized medicine.

• Big data analytics and intelligent techniques for men’s health.

For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office to announce on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts will be thoroughly refereed through a double-blind peer-review process. Please visit the Instruction for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) in this open access journal is 1500 USD. Submitted manuscripts should be well formatted in good English.
