Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Neurodegenerative disorders encompass a wide variety of diseases, which give way to heterogeneous symptoms and have distinct characteristics each. The pathophysiological pathways behind each separate disorder may differ, but they all eventually lead to the loss of neuronal cells. Significant research efforts have been made in the last decades, towards elucidating the underlying mechanisms, and they seem to all converge over oxidative stress. Oxidative stress is more usually defined as an imbalance between the production of reactive oxygen species in cells, and their ability to cleanse the system of these products. This is very harmful, especially for neurons, and has thus been incriminated for many neurodegenerative processes. In light of this, antioxidant substances have also been examined as possible therapeutic alternatives, and present great interest. Considering the need for further understanding of neurodegenerative diseases and the paucity of effective treatments so far, we decided to introduce this Special Issue of Journal of Integrative Neuroscience, and hereby invite authors to submit articles of any kind regarding oxidative stress in neurodegenerative diseases, and help promote research towards this direction.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted via our online editorial system at https://imr.propub.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to start your submission. Manuscripts can be submitted now or up until the deadline. All papers will go through peer-review process. Accepted papers will be published in the journal (as soon as accepted) and meanwhile listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, reviews as well as short communications are preferred. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office to announce on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts will be thoroughly refereed through a double-blind peer-review process. Please visit the Instruction for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) in this open access journal is 1900 USD. Submitted manuscripts should be well formatted in good English.
