Regenerative medicine is a field of growing interest for the scientific community. This area of medical science has the interesting peculiarity of involving both biological processes and clinical applications. Tissue regeneration has improved recently due to the discovery of novel stem cell niches in several easily accessible tissues, such as the human periapical-cyst MSCs discovered by Tatullo and collaborators. Novel biomaterials have also created very favourable conditions for driving damaged tissues towards rapid and excellent regeneration. The Italian scientific community is one of the most active globally in this area, with several research groups working on novel translational applications of stem cells and biomaterials for regenerative procedures. The proper combination of these co-factors is the key to achieving successful treatment of damaged or lost tissues and promoting tissue formation, while at the same time restoring aesthetics and function. This special issue will highlight the most promising applications of tissue engineering for future diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in the medical sciences. In particular, this special issue will highlight the work of leading scientists in tissue engineering and regenerative medicine, while also providing brief but clear insights into the future challenges that face regenerative medicine.

Manuscripts should be submitted via our online editorial system at https://imr.propub.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to start your submission. Manuscripts can be submitted now or up until the deadline. All papers will go through peer-review process. Accepted papers will be published in the journal (as soon as accepted) and meanwhile listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, reviews as well as short communications are preferred. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office to announce on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts will be thoroughly refereed through a double-blind peer-review process. Please visit the Instruction for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) in this open access journal is 500 USD. Submitted manuscripts should be well formatted in good English.
