Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Alzheimer's disease and other neurodegenerative diseases have been widely investigated from bench to bedside. Although the putative hallmarks have been established for decades, there remains an important mismatch between pre-clinical and clinical achievements. In particular, the failure of monoclonal antibodies and other strategies that target amyloid-Beta can be used as a paradigmatic example.

Here, we welcome alternative hypotheses and preclinical or clinical studies that use alternative strategies to the fruitless efforts so far based on the classical, protein-based approaches. We also welcome novel approaches that help to unravel what has so far been missed regarding protein misfolding, precocious phases of the diseases, and non-neuronal cells.
