Frontiers in Bioscience-Scholar Journal: Change of Editor-in-Chief

We are pleased to announce the good news that Prof. Dr. Gustavo Caetano-Anollés (University of Illinois) as new Editor-in-Chief of Frontiers in Bioscience-Scholar (FBS).

Dr. Gustavo Caetano-Anollés is Professor of Bioinformatics in the Department of Crop Sciences and University Scholar at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. He is an Affiliate of the Carl R. Woese Institute for Genomic Biology at the university. Previously he was Chief Scientific Officer at Vital NRG, Associate Professor at the University of Oslo and Director of the Laboratory of Molecular Ecology and Evolution in the Molecular Biology Division, and Research Assistant Professor at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. He has been consultant for Ohio State University, Lockheed Martin Energy Systems, Venture Alliance, and the University of Tennessee Research Corporation, to name a few. He has also been associated with the instructional and research programs of the International Atomic Energy Agency in Vienna since 1995.

Dr. Caetano-Anollés has published over 200 peer-reviewed manuscripts, contributed to over 220 conference proceedings and abstracts, and produced three books, “DNA Markers: Protocols, Applications and Overviews” (Wiley & Sons, 1997), “Evolutionary Genomics and Systems Biology” (Wiley-Blackwell, 2010), and "Untangling Molecular Biodiversity" (World Scientific Press, 2021), one co-edited. Dr. Caetano-Anollés was awarded the Emile Zuckerkandl Prize by Springer Verlag and the International Society of Molecular Evolution in 2003 for his contributions to molecular evolution. His current research explores molecular diversity and how molecular structure determines biological function in biology. He studies the origin, structure, and evolution of genomes, proteomes, RNomes, and functionomes for applications including bioengineering, biomedicine, and systems biology. He is interested in the origin and evolution of viruses.

We warmly welcome Prof. Dr. Gustavo Caetano-Anollés as Editor-in-Chief, and we look forward to Frontiers in Bioscience-Scholar achieving many milestones under his leadership.
