Aims & Scope

Frontiers in Bioscience-Scholar (FBS) is an international, peer-reviewed, open access journal for biology and basic medicine. FBS publishes high-quality research papers and reviews on topics identified within the scope of the journal, which includes biochemistry, molecular biology, biomedicine, genetics, and functional genomics, with particularly strong emphases on heredity genetics and gene functions in humans and all model organisms. Research articles on the genetic basis of human diseases and the functional mechanisms involving gene networks are encouraged. Our published research topics of interest include but are not limited to:

  • Gene functions in human diseases and physiology
  • Gene function studies in model organisms
  • Genetic basis of homeostasis of biochemical processes
  • Molecular biological functions involving genes
  • Pharmacological genomics
  • Drug target discovery
  • Genetic variations affecting drug metabolism, drug responses, and side effects
  • Cancer genetics
  • Chemical genetics
  • Epigenetics in development and disease
  • Molecular analysis of simple and complex genetic traits
  • Agricultural genomics
  • Developmental genetics
  • Regulatory mechanisms in gene expression
  • Technologies for extracting functions from genomic data
