Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Essential oils are very widespread in the plant world. There are over 1700 species that produce essential oils, for example in flowers, fruits or leaves. Oils are mixtures of volatile chemical compounds from the group of terpenoids and esters, alcohols, aldehydes, ketones, ethers. There is still growing scientific evidence confirming the biological and pharmacological effects of essential oils. Public interest in the use of essential oils continues to increase in various areas of life. They are used in perfumes, cosmetics, food, drinks, and other products. Essential oils are often used for aromatherapy. Many of them also have antimicrobial and antifungal effects. In this Special Issue, we invite original and review articles on the extraction, composition, use and properties of essential oils.
