Enzymes are biomolecules required for both the syntheses as well as breakdown of biochemical reactions in all living organsim. Enzymes are subjected to regulation for adapting to the requirements of different cells. Lack of enzymatic function and/or expression is unsuitable for life. On the other hand, the activity of some enzymes may be involved in the onset of specific human diseases. This special issue will include reviews and research articles on the topic "Drug Discovery at Enzyme Level" focusing on those enzymes whose activity and expression is considered harmful for human cell function. Reviews included in this special issue will present the state-of-the-art of the in vitro and/or in silico high-efficency drug screening methods used to identify chemical or natural compounds capable of effectively interacting with enzymatic targets in order to develop a drug suitable for the clinical practice. The research articles will report mechanisms-based enzyme inhibition exerted by the indentified inhibitors compounds through kinetic characterization studies and molecular docking analysis; in vivo compounds effectiveness will be another point of assessment. Please send me an abstract prior to submission to make sure that your work falls within the scope of this special issue.
This special issue will cover topics including:
- Drug discovery process (in silico and in vitro techniques)
- Enzyme purification and characterization
- Mechanistic and kinetic studies of enzymes inhibition
- Molecular docking analysis
- Drug efficacy testing in cell and animal models

Manuscripts should be submitted via our online editorial system at https://imr.propub.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to start your submission. Manuscripts can be submitted now or up until the deadline. All papers will go through peer-review process. Accepted papers will be published in the journal (as soon as accepted) and meanwhile listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, reviews as well as short communications are preferred. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office to announce on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts will be thoroughly refereed through a double-blind peer-review process. Please visit the Instruction for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) in this open access journal is 2500 USD. Submitted manuscripts should be well formatted in good English.
