Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Due to the rapid growth of the global population, our reliance on food, feed, fuel, and chemicals has shifted from terrestrial to marine resources. Marine macroalgae, critical primary producers in coastal regions, offer a diverse array of bioproducts with novel industrial applications. Additionally, macroalgae have been proposed as a means of mitigating the effects of ocean acidification and the impact of climate change. Macroalgal bioproducts can be used for food, fertilizer, pharmaceuticals, environmental solutions, bioremediation, and carbon sequestration. Research needs to be conducted responsibly and sustainably, considering macroalgae production's ecological, social, and economic implications. We welcome submissions from academic and industrial researchers to highlight advancements in macroalgal applications and biotechnology. This special issue covers a wide range of topics, including but not limited to:
•    Genetic advances and nano-technology applications
•    Integrated aquaculture and ocean farming
•    Macroalgal biomass processing
•    Macroalgal products
•    Modeling, LCA, and TEA of sustainable seaweed farming
•    Macroalgal contribution to SDG 6, 7, 13 and 14
•    Environmental applications
