Special Issue Information

Dear Colleague,

It is indeed a reality that the modern therapeutic agents are unable to meet the challenges of modern age diseases. Numerous agents are approved by FDA each year in different therapeutic classes but the treatment of chronic diseases is still a dream. Overall, great problems have been observed in the treatment of complicated diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, CVS, Asthma, arthritis etc. The challenges appeared in terms of generalized sensitivity, efficacy, and safety. In this regard, we desperately need new/different approaches to come up with better solutions.

Medicinal plants have a dynamic therapeutic history since the start of humanity. The plant extracts or their derived compounds have shown effects through different mechanistic pathways. The extracts mostly contained verstyle secondary metabolites such as flavonoids, alkaloids, glycosides etc., and therefore, have the potential to mediate effects through different/multiple signalling pathways. Thus, the challenges to the clinician in 21century can be effectively addressed through evidenced based studies of the medicinal plants while using the modern sophisticated technologies.
