Abstract

The authors refer on twenty-seven cases of therapeutic castration in pre- and post-menopausal patients, from 31 to 67 years old, who have already been submitted to mastectomy for breast cancer. Histological observation of the ovaries showed that eight patients had ovarian metastasis while seven had corpus luteum and three metastasis and corpus luteum. Therefore were found 40% of metastasis. In accordance with the reported data the authors confirm that the presence of ovarian metastasis, expecially when found together with a corpus luteum, leads to a longer period of survival and a significantly higher objective remission.
