The Authors, after a brief review on the physical characteristics and medical applications of the laser, discuss on the possible role of laser surgery in gynecological practice. They conclude that this technique is particularly useful for the conservative management of cervical and lower genital tract lesions. With regard to intraepithelial neoplasia this applies expecially to the younger patient who is eager to retain her child-bearing potential.
