Sixteen years of mass screening for cervical cancer in the province of ferrara: results
In the period October 1st, 1962 - October 30th, 1978 89,012 women have been screened. Of those 89,012 women, 44,617 have been tested seven or more times. 625 cancers have been detected, of which 340 were in situ, 70 microinvasive and 215 were invasive. In addition, 393 cases of dysplasia have been detected. In the screened population there has been a decrease in the incidence of invasive cancer, from 2,6‰ at the 1st screening to 0,09 ‰ at the 4th screemng.
