Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

It’s my great honor to be invited to serve as the guest editor of CEOG of this Special Issue “High intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) ablation for uterine myoma“.

There are two kinds of HIFU: MRI-guided focused ultrasound (MRgFUS) and ultrasound-guided focused ultrasound (USgFUS). Both kinds of HIFU have been applied in various medical fields in some countries for several decades. HIFU ablation has been used in several gynecologic procedures, such as uterine myoma, adenomyosis, C/S scar endometriosis, ectopic pregnancy, and placenta accreta. Since it involves noninvasive surgery, HIFU has altered the nature of surgical practice. However, so far; HIFU is still not popular even in most developed countries.

The development, rationale, advantages, disadvantages, clinical indications, contraindications, complications, adverse effects, and medico economic issues regarding HIFU require further investigation.

We welcome all researchers to share your opinions, comments or your research data in this Special Issue on HIFU for the treatment of uterine myomas with our fellow colleagues.
