Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Infertility is a global health problem affecting millions of people of reproductive age worldwide. Even though infertility is not a mortal condition, a diagnosis of infertility can be a frustrating experience for couples. In developed countries, environmental factors, high educational level and occupation cause women to delay their pregnancy decision. As another factor of infertility, advancing age is strongly associated with a decrease in ovarian reserve. In women with poor ovarian reserve, treatments other than in vitro fertilization (IVF) often yield unfavorable results. Accordingly, the live birth rate in IVF cycles for women with poor ovarian reserve is still not at the desired level.

In low-income countries, women face a different set of problems related to female infertility: there is societal pressure on infertile women to bear children, while access to high-cost treatments like IVF can be challenging. Therefore, increasing fertility health knowledge, overcoming fertility-related stress, and introducing treatments that enhance fertility before IVF, such as oral ovulation induction or intrauterine insemination, are gaining importance in low-income countries.

At Clinical and Experimental Obstetrics & Gynecology, we are developing a special issue focused on updated research in female infertility. In the context of our globalized world, we look forward to your current research on all treatment methods for improving female fertility.
