Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Female sexual dysfunction (FSD) is a very prevalent problem that affects approximately 40% of women throughout their lives, causing discomfort and interpersonal difficulties. FSD etiology is always multifactorial, and often secondary to other diseases or treatments that we usually manage in our gynecology offices. Likewise, for diagnosis and treatment, we often require multidisciplinary approaches that include pharmacological resources and sex therapy. Alternatively, some of the main causes of sexual disorders refer to past or present episodes of abuse or any form of violence against women. Thus, treatment of FSD also commonly advocates for comprehensive and inclusive sex education that includes men and women from early childhood.
This special issue aims to update knowledge about female sexual dysfunction and the sexual scope of violence against women. We would like to invite you to publish original clinical research articles or systematic reviews focused on the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of FSD that will provide gynecologists and family physicians with a tool to update their knowledge on this topic.
