Dear Colleagues,
Pelvic floor disorders (PFD) are highly prevalent conditions among women and represent a growing socioeconomic burden. Although PDF rarely result in severe morbidity or mortality, their symptoms affect the quality of life up to 40% of all women influencing daily activities, sexual function, and exercise. Their presence can have a negative impact on body image and sexuality. The prevalence of PFD is expected to increase in the future due to the aging population. At this state of affairs, the research on diagnosis and treatment of PFD as well as on pathophysiology, plays a crucial role.
In addition, in the new era of precision medicine, it has become crucial to find a personalized approach to the patients with PFD through the study of the various risk factors and the investigation of the different diagnostic and therapeutic strategies.
The purpose of this Special Issue with the title “Clinical research on Pelvic Floor Disorders” is to collect and publish research articles as well as reviews providing additional data on the diagnosis and management of PFD. This will help the clinician to tailor the treatment to the individual characteristics of each woman.
