Abstract

The authors have found that cAMP levels in rat uterus during pregnancy increases from 1192 pmol/gr fresh tissue in non-pregnant rats to 1977, 2572 and 2870 pmol/gr fresh tissue in second and third week of pregnancy and first day of puerperium respectively, according to oestrogen level during pregnancy. The high level if cAMP found is certainly important in the regulation of uterine tonus and contractile response during fetal growth.
